Landscape and Nature 1982-1985 In the early 1980s I made paintings of increasingly abstracted atmospheric landscapes. These were inspired
by the northern coast and moor land of my childhood. I used watercolour and acrylic washes to
build up layers of thin colour, working in a variety of scales, from 15cm to
over 200cm high. I tried to use relatively large marks and sweeps of colour even on the
biggest pieces to keep the sensation
of the solid masses being dissolved in the mist and rain. |
