Four Victorian ladies. The first is wears an evening dress with a
large bustle and is from about 1875. She has blonde hair with elaborate curls
high on her head and cascading over her shoulders. Her gown is mainly maroon
satin with some olive green, trimmed with braid, ribbon, fringes, frills and
silk flowers. A bustle pad holds out the back of the dress, the whole panel
being about 16cm from the bow at the waist to the last frill on the hem. The second lady is in pink satin with a lace shawl
and bonnet and carries a small fabric bag. The third is a young girl
gathering flowers and wears a layered white fine broderie anglais dress. She
has brown ringlets and lace bows in her hair. The third is a lady in a blue
satin gown with white lace underskirt, who is reading a book, and has brown
hair with a small blue satin fabric cap at the back of her head. All these figures are twelfth scale and so are about 14cm tall. They
have some soft areas so can be lightly posed, and could be made to sit. No moulds were used in her construction, nor have any been taken from
her so they are all unique one-of-a-kind figures. ©Eileen Sedgwick
