Welcome to the website of  Eileen Sedgwick the UK artist and doll-maker. Eileen has worked in

art and design all her life, and this site is an online gallery of some of the things she has

created over the years, and a starting point for anyone interested in buying  work or

commissioning original pieces. Eileen trained in Fine Art, and worked as a freelance artist and

designer for a time,  before going on to teach for many years in state secondary schools,

specializing in large hand-built sculpture. Miniature figure making, begun late 2003, combines many long standing interests and skills. Each is sculpted by hand without moulds at any stage, painted, wigged, and dressed by her, and so they are unique one-of-a-kind pieces, or artist dolls.

Eileen produces a wide range of styles of figure from more traditional historical doll-house dolls,

to famous faces from books, paintings, stage or screen, to completely original fantasy characters.

Careful attention is given to quality at every stage, in workmanship, and choice of materials.

Vintage finds, natural fibres, and hand dyed, embroidered or painted fabrics, all help to give

her work a unique quality. Eileen was awarded artist status at the British Doll-Makers Guild

in 2008, she was then delighted to be invited to join Artisans in Miniature, and to be granted

membership of the British Toymaker’s Guild as an artist doll-maker in 2009.

 

Eileen also belongs to several other Guilds and Groups including British Miniatures, the

One-of-a-kind Guild, Doll Artists and Miniature Enthusiasts group, British Polymer Clay Guild,

For the Love of Miniatures, Custom Doll-House and Miniatures and is a supporter of IGMA.
