All my figures are “one-of-a-kind “ creations, and are truly unique. I
don’t use moulds or patterns at any stage in their construction, and don’t usually repeat
figures, which would have subtle variations even if I tried to do so. I usually work in
twelfth scale, the internationally adopted
“doll-house” size, so figures stand just under 6” (15cm) tall. I use artist’s polymer clay for the figures and I usually build them
onto wire so that they can be posed. I create and style the mohair wigs,
and make the costumes from a
collection of materials built up over the last 40 years. I like to use mostly
natural materials, and especially old fabrics, lace, and trimmings where
possible. If I can’t find exactly what I need, I paint, dye, embroider or
otherwise embellish the fabric myself. Each figure takes at least 20 hours to
complete depending on the complexity of the design, often considerably more. The multiple-figure groups take several weeks to complete. Prices usually range from £45
to £250 each. All my figures are for adult collectors only and are not suitable for
children. My work is available for sale directly from me, at exhibitions and
